N: words expressing location and point



1. わたし は 毎朝 (まいあさ) 7 時 (じ) に うち を 出 (で)ます。I leave home at 7 every morning.
2. 駅 (えき) の 前 (まえ) で バス を 降 (お)ります。I get off the bus in front of the station.
3. 成田 (なりた) 空港 (くうこう) で 飛行機 (ひこうき) を 降 (お)りて、ホテル まで タクシー で 行 (い)きました。I got off the plane at Narita Airport and went to the hotel by taxi.


A. 「を」 indicates that N is the starting point. (Examples 1,2,3)

1. この バス は 東京大学 (とうきょうだいがく) 前 (まえ) を 通(とお)って、東京駅 (とうきょうえき) まで 行 (い)きます。This bus passes in front of Tokyo University and goes to Tokyo Station.
2A. 長 (なが)い 橋 (はし) を 渡 (わた)りましたか。　 Did you cross the long bridge?
2B. ええ。橋 (はし) を 渡 (わた)って、島 (しま) へ 行 (い)きました。　 Yes. I crossed the bridge and went to the island.
3. 道 (みち) の 右側 (みぎがわ) を 歩 (ある)いて ください。Please walk on the right side of the road.
4. 三つ目 (みっつめ) の 角 (かど) を 左 (ひだり) に 曲 (ま)がって ください。Please turn left at the third corner.


A. 「を」 indicates that N is a passing point when expressing movement. (Example 1)B. 「を」 indicates that N is a route when expressing movement. (Examples 2,3,4)










1. わたし は 駅 (えき) の 前 (まえ) で バス に 乗 (の)ります。I get on a bus in front of the station.
2. そこ に 荷物 (にもつ) を 置 (お)いて ください。Please put the luggage there.
3A. 温泉 (おんせん) に 入(はい)った こと が ありますか。Have you tried hot springs?3B. いいえ、ありません。No, I haven't.
4A. JAL001 便 (びん) は、何時 (なんじ) に 空港 (くうこう) に 着 (つ)きますか。What time does JAL flight number 001 arrive at the airport?
4B. 午後 (ごご) 8 時 (じ) に 空港 (くうこう) に 着 (つ)きます。It will arrive at the airport at 8 in the evening.
5. わたし は きのう 8 時 (じ) に うち に 帰 (かえ)りました。I went home at 8 yesterday.
6. 中山 (なかやま) さん は 山 (やま) に 登 (のぼ)りました。Nakayama-san climbed a mountain.
